The Western Australian Trout & Freshwater Angling Association (WATFAA) is a not-for-profit club dedicated to promoting trout and freshwater angling across Western Australia and caring for the waters we fish.

For decades, WATFAA members have helped shape trout and freshwater fishing in WA – from contributing to habitat projects and access discussions to supporting community stocking events and festivals like Troutfest and the Pemberton/ Southern Forests trout festivals.

As a member, you:

• Support healthy fisheries – your membership helps us contribute to stream rehabilitation, invasive weed removal and other on-ground projects that keep our waters in good shape. 

• Have a voice – WATFAA is recognised as a key freshwater stakeholder, working with Recfishwest, DPIRD and other partners on stocking, access and policy.

• Build your skills – tap into generations of trout and freshwater experience, from fly and lure techniques to gear, safety and local knowledge.

• Join a like-minded community – meet other anglers who care about good fishing, good company and leaving the bush better than they found it.

As a WATFAA member, you’ll enjoy:

  Regular club outings and social fish-ups at dams and streams across the South West, plus involvement in community events like Troutfest and regional trout festivals.

  Access to member resources such as club documents, dam maps, general member info, cottage booking details and other freshwater angling materials via the members area. 

• Freshwater Newsletter
  Updates on club news, fishing reports and information through our Freshwater newsletter and other club communications.

  Opportunities to learn from experienced anglers at casting demos, on-water sessions and club events – especially around fly-fishing, lure fishing and rigging.
